boots and babies

This last weekend was such a dream. My Lesco was out of town and that part was lame but my babe was in and so was I. I spent every minute with that beautiful little boy. We watched Sex and the City 2 (which I definitely do not recommend if your child is not sleeping on your chest for everything but the first and last five minutes), used the piano bench as a walker, screamed at the elderly in Whole Foods and ate what I'm sure were very sanitary community trains at Barnes and Noble.

See? Perfect.

The one snag in the evening is when I told Phin Phin that H stood for hipster while he was taking a bath.

Also, Lesco had galoshes delivered to me while he was out of town earlier this month to cheer me up but the friggen gods (not sure if it's the weather or footwear ones) must hate me because it's been sunny ever since. Well it rained for forty two seconds Sunday morning so I wore them all day. Even though I didn't leave the house.

Zane + Squirt Bottle = Fun

Remember when I said my husband had a birthday and then remember when I said we were going to have a party? Well we did that and while pictures of the birthday boy would be nice, pictures of my nephews getting a hold of the squirt bottle we use to train/torture the cat are better.

Simon wasn't the only one to fall victim to Zane that night. He was a total mad man.

Yay for two year olds!

Hearts and stuff

I'm wearing red and pink today and totally feel like I'm getting away with something. Like I fast forwarded time to one of my favorite holiday color combos. Like everyone in the office is going to glare at me when flowers start pouring in from random people like the old guy in the ugly sweater who gave me eyes at the post office yesterday. Oh how kind Mr. Sweater.

I want to eat chocolates and complain about how this day is soo commercial when someone gives me a present. Even if that present is just a fax from some insurance agency or a coupon that came in the mail for half off chili cheese fries at the restaurant down the street.

I want to wear lacy underwear and have pretty hair. And by pretty I mean clean. Let us remember I have a full time job, a part time husband and a growing monster.

I might squirt red #40 in the water pitcher in the kitchen. I don't care if all my coworkers start suffering from adult ADHD and we develop a gluten intolerance. It's festive.

Yesterday Lesco had a birthday. We will celebrate tonight with enchiladas because nothing says happy birthday like meat and cheese my friends.

My husband is awesome. Even if he is really pissy in the middle of the night. Actually anytime he gets tired. Just ask his brother, you don't keep Jared up past his bedtime. Even if he has such a horrible singing voice I once had to shove a McDonalds Bar-B-Q sauce over his ear to get him to shut up. EVEN if he puts Franks Hot Sauce on almost everything I cook.

He's so super old now. When we met I would tease him about how close he was to thirty and he did not find that pleasant. Now that I'm that close and he's coming up on forty (and by coming up I mean it's with half a decade reach) we just leave the whole age thing out of our conversation because who likes talking about sad things like wrinkles and the death of your youth? I kid, I kid.

He's even better and even worse than I ever knew he could be when I met him and that is a whole lotta fun to discover.

Plus he smells good. Yay Lesco!

One Classy Lady!

My Grandma turns 80 this week.

Eighty is a big deal which is perfect since so is my grandma.

She was quite the hottie when my grandpa pulled her off the market in '52.

Party Party with Peewee and Monster

Somedays you feel like a party. This week sucked pretty hard. Everyone was sick including the poor monster. I felt like I couldn't get anything done. My house smelled. It sucked.

So today was a good day. I cuddled extra long with my monster in bed this morning since I had the day off. I bought (and spilled but whatevs) a jar of my favorite salsa. I made a cake and let my Phinny taste the batter and frosting and as long as I'm putting it out there I let him have a teeny piece of cake. What? You haven't seen all the super scientific and convincing commercials on just how healthy high fructose corn syrup really is?? Don't tell me any different haters.

Jared came home early and we walked to a Mexican restaurant near our house to get our groupon on. We watched lotsa movies. I may or may not have watched the season premier of the new Teen Mom and felt a liiiiiiitle bit better about myself. Don't judge, isn't that why most people watch Jersey Shore?

Yay life!

Is it just me or does this face say "I'm gonna kill you if you take one more photo."

And then we ran into PeeWee who totally on my side and was like, "Whooaaa man, chill."

Then I reminded Jared that I was holding the Mexican food and if he took me out there would be tamale and beans all over the sidewalk. So he let me live. whoo.

Over winter

After Christmas I pretty much want it to be spring.

And when it's spring I want to wear white pants and get on a boat and pose for a Nautica ad.

Oops, actually that's summer.

In Spring I want to put on a yellow dress and travel down to the south and go to an outdoor Easter Egg hunt like at the end of Fried Green Tomatoes.

Wait. I really love Valentines Day. So I'll settle for painting my house white and decorating it with tons of paper hearts and wearing a floofy, seasonal blouse. Like this one.

I am sick. Very sick

So the boys of the house are on their own. I managed to drag my gross self out of bed and down to the office where the gentleman's club of the residence was meeting over blocks.

Perhaps I take too many photos of the monsters of this house. One has become defiant and the other just refuses to look at the camera.

Monsters being Monsters

I might be a bad Mom. Maybe I'm only 30% bad and 70% good. Or maybe those are my wife numbers and I'm more 40/60 with little Phin. The thing is, I love seeing him get into trouble. I love seeing him back himself under a chair and forget which way is out, I love seeing him get sweet potato up his nose and try to blow it off. I love seeing him glare at the brand new pair of shoes on his feet and spit at the velcro in disgust. Can't blame him there, velcro will never be cool.

I laughed when he threw his first tantrum today when I took a toy away from him. I called Jared to tell him Phinny just fought with one of his cousins for the first time over a fire truck.

Love it. I LOVE seeing him become a little boy exploring his big new world. And fess up, you know it's nothing but cute seeing a little monster stuck under his highchair.

Happy (pretty pretty please!) New Year

Happy New Year! Look at my shiny, green thing. It's a noise maker. A horrible, evil noise maker that can make little monsters with brand new tubes in their ears scream BLOODY FREAKEN MURDER if used. But I won't do that. I'll just hold it up for the camera, a la Vanna White. I will tell Lesco that if he even thinks about making a sound with that instrument of Satan I will shove it so far down his throat he pees glitter.

See those pretty bags under my eyes? I hope they go away this year!

Happy 2011!!
