Six months vs. 18 months. Phin edition.

6 months- I wait with bated breath to hear my child call me Mama.
18 months- I wait with bated breath to see if I’m successfully able to sneak through a whole pee sesh without him banging on the door screaming MAMA!

6- Read to a baby who’s more interested in chewing pages. Book = my choice.
18- Read to a baby who’s singular goal is making sure I never, ever, EVER forget a single word in the fireman book. I’ll probably be muttering it on my death bed when I’m all incoherent and crap.

6- I write every little milestone down in the baby book.
18- I find the baby book in the toilet. Awesome.

6 – I can’t wait to see him roll over, crawl, pull himself up.
18- I finally get why people use those leash things.

6-If all else fails, give babe boob.
18-If all else fails, put babe on kitchen counter. What’s up with that?

6-Older cousins own you kid. Don’t even think about playing with something for more than five seconds.
18- You sit on older cousins. You remind them you have tall parents. They don’t.

6- You eat every new little fruit or veggie we puree for you. We applaud ourselves for raising a kid who eats healthy.
18- Sweet potatoes with Nutella? We do what it takes. Annie’s Mac & Cheese and Rocky All Natural Chicken Tenders are my best friend. Sometimes you’re on a total hunger strike. Just don’t chain yourself to a tree kid.

6- I’m sure that my baby is the most beautiful/cute/perfect human that has every graced the planet with his presence.
18- No change here people. No change at all.

Eighteen and I’m even more in love. Believe it.

  1. You are hysterical! Probably even more so because I don't have children yet.
Your little guy is super-cute! Can't wait to have one like him!

  2. I say do it! Go to Italy, buy your house, settle in, have baby. Even if you don't want to, cause I love watching people have babies. *not the actual having part. More like the bringing home part.

  4. HAHA! So funny and TRUE. I totally relate...especially to the leash comment. I was always one of those people, shaking my head at the mom with the child tethered close by...now I'm wondering where exactly I can find one of those miraculous inventions. :)

And you're right, Phin is downright beautiful. :)

  6. Faith - I have painting issues. I have painted my living room walls no less than 8 time and we've lived here 4 years. So while the blue is bright and fun, it's time is limited. Although I am feeling pretty lazy these days...so it's got that going for it.

Ashley- I have one in one Amazon cart but I can't pull the trigger. I had to chase him through the TJ Maxx dressing room in my underwear tonight, I'm buying the friggen leash.

Audrey- Thanks! Are you counting down the days now. Seconds?!! I know I post something about your babe every five seconds, but I get so dang excited for people. It's the best ever!

  7. I read this post yesterday, but today I kept thinking about how a leash really would make my life so much easier. No more battles of wills involving will she come when I tell her to. Ugh. So exhausted by this defiance!
